A college education is not a promise of a better job or a happy life, but it could be an important step to help a student on the path of a successful and a fulfilling future.  As such, our scholarship opportunities are intended to serve as a resource for youth pursuing higher education as a means to improve their lives and the lives of others in their community. 

 

A secondary role, but as important is the lodge’s perception in the community.  Through our commitment of service through academic excellence, we want to be a recognized name in the surrounding area’s independent school districts, colleges and universities for producing future generations of leaders.

The purpose of the Scholarship Awards are to assist deserving high school graduating seniors and undergraduate students to pursue a course of study at a two-year or four-year educational institution.  The Scholarship is named after John T. Maxey and was established by the members of John T. Maxey Lodge No. 74.  The scholarship is administered by John T. Maxey, Inc., a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that is funded by donations, and proceeds from fundraisers.  We are dedicated to helping youth in the San Antonio metropolitan area who want to attend a school of higher learning.
